Now, what do injury lawyers have got to do with summer? Well, a lot, in fact, if you’re the one like who can’t resist the sun and drive away at a moment’s notice. I’m not saying you’ll meet with an accident, but that’s what insurance is for. And that’s what injury lawyers are there for — to take care of your claims.

You may not even be driving. For all you know, you could be working with a faulty chain saw. But if you have a claim to make, that’s when a lawyer — one who’s specialized in the area — can help. For instance, a co-worker of mine was driving through Tennessee and her skidded on gravel on the road. She was physically hurt, and she needed immediate legal assistance. Since she had her list of emergency information, a Morristown personal injury lawyer was able to look at her case in detail and get her claims cleared with the least of the hassles from the insurance company.

An injury lawyer will investigate your case thoroughly and work earnestly to get you the reimbursement for all of your medical expenses — of the past, present and future. The lawyer may also help you win back any wages that you may have lost as a result of your injury.

Of course, choosing a home is a highly subjective/personal matter, since the criteria will vary from person to person. Yet, there are a few truths about the location of your home that are universally held as ‘prerequisites’. For one thing, when I’m chasing my career, I have little options about living in a place of my choice. But buying a home? That’s different.

If you’d ask me, what I’d look for in my home town (when would be, among others, a totally reliable infrastructure for total health care. And then comes the weather, the flora and the fauna (and the beaches thrown in, preferably), ‘prettiness’, vicinity to airports and entertainment options, and not necessarily in that order.

Among a number of options I have examined, Wilmington NC real estate meets the above parameters very close. With less than 100,000 residents, the beautiful port city (between Cape Fear and the Atlantic Ocean) is home to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. It is also home to a regional visual and performing arts center, It also has a sophisticated regional medical center and boasts cultural and arts centers. A great year-round moderate climate will certainly help improve your golf as well. Plus, Wrightsville Beach is the place to be if you love the sand the surf — and seafood.

Just as there was a time when “google” was not a verb, there was also a time when “bodacious” was not a word. Bodacious is a blend of “bold” and “audacious” created in British English dialect late in the nineteenth century.

Still, I’m glad it was created! Some days we need to be bodacious! And some days, we need to remember to apply it to how kindly we treat ourselves. Trust me: You’ll thrive tomorrow because of today’s kindness.

Here are my top 10 bodacious ways to be nice to yourself:

1- Flowers!

This is so simple - and yet so powerful! Fresh flowers beautify any space. I always have an orchid on my coffee table. I see it the minute I walk in the door, and it reminds me to take a deep breath and cherish the beauty of my life. Have a Sunday practice of getting fresh flowers to get your week off to a bodacious start!

2 - Take a nap

Favorite thing: I climb into bed for a nap in the middle of the day. Within minutes comes the soft ploop of cat paws on the cover. I can hear the cat thoughts: Hmm. The human has decided to lie quietly. I’d like to take part. Then the paws walk all around me until they find the very best spot for settling.

Cats know the truth: Naps are bodacious!

3 - Pay full price

The amount of energy we waste on trying to get “deals” is often not worth it. If you see something you love, then get it. I’m convinced that we’d all be so much happier and wealthier if we just got exactly what we loved without looking at price tags and wasting time looking for sales. (We’d probably have much less stuff too!)

4 - Trampolines and swings.

I was at a cocktail party last year. The adults were up on the deck watching the kids jump on the trampoline. At one point, all the kids ran inside. I kicked off my shoes and ran for the trampoline. Three other women joined me. We laughed and jumped for about 15 minutes. It was the most fun I’d had that week.

Swings are fun, too. And they’re easy to find! Who cares if you look or feel stupid? Being an adult doesn’t have to mean being boring!

5 - Truncate your To-Do’s.

How many items are on your to-do list today?

32?

20?

67?

A day should have no more than two or three mission-critical priorities for completion. The rest are extra credit! Giving yourself the gift of completion is the ultimate self-kindness.

6 - Order out.

I love preparing meals. But some nights, it’s just necessary to let someone else do the cooking. We have a great delivery service in our town. I don’t mind the extra expense if it allows me a night of no clean up, and a little extra time to write or just be with my husband.

7 - Take a long walk with your dog.

Are you one of those people who gets home from work and marches your dog around the block with a grim look on your face? (Another to-do item checked off the list!)

Try this: Take your dog for a long happy walk. Revel in the delight and presence of your dog. It will absolutely lift your spirits.

8 - Go on a retreat.

Many of the women who come to my Unstoppable Power of Intention Retreats show up frazzled and nervous. They’ve never done something so bodacious in their lives! They leave refreshed and renewed. One woman hugged me as she was about to drive away from the March retreat and she said, “This was the best money I’ve ever spent on myself.”

It doesn’t have to be one of my retreats, of course. (Though they are pretty great! And the October retreat is already half-full!) You can search google for all kinds of bodacious retreat getaways in your area.

9 - Read for fun.

Do you relish your days on the beach because it’s the only time you’ll allow yourself the joy of a trashy novel or some “light” reading?

Why not get a little bodacious and bring the beach to your work-week? Curl up at night and get lost in some fun fiction.

10 - Step AWAY from the computer. (And the phone.)

Everyone needs a break from social media and blogs and email. (Yes, even this e-Zine!) Don’t include your computer in any of the above activities. And turn off your phone, too! I promise, your computer and phone won’t take it personally! (Neither will this e-Zine!)

Auto insurance. Let’s face it — it’s a necessary evil (besides being a law). We may frt and fume, but ultimately, we know it’s the right thing to do. And then, it’s only natural that we start looking for the auto insurance quotes available online or through sales agents.

Before I decide anything at all, I need to look at what coverage I’m looking for. There are a number of elements that are kinda hidden there too — for instance, the cost of your car. And the maintenance expenses. But it’s surprising that a little research on the Web can point out my exact needs to the T.

Once I have listed my needs, everything becomes simpler, and all I need to do is compare coverages and premiums, and I should be able to get the right coverage.

As always, when an entity is in tandem with Nature, nothing really goes wrong. It’s only fight the current, unexpected results start showing up. Having said that, the same is true when it comes to losing weight.

Millions have experimented with a number natural forms of losing weight — which mainly constitute mainly dieting and working out. However, the general consensus is ’something is missing’. That ’something’ could just be a desire to constantly having to battle hunger, a natural phenomenon. Here’s where the all-natural diet pill comes in.

I just read about this extremely efficient diet pill called nuphedra. The first thing I did, as always, was to check out the ingredients — nuphedra consists of green tea (a de-oxidifier), oolong tea, thermodiamine (increases the natural rate of burning fat), synephrine (cuts down the appetite), phenylethylamine (again a natural chemical that is part mood elevator and keps you alert), razberri-K (a raspberry ketone, which helps fat metbolism), bioprene (helps absorb nutrients) and ginger.

If you check out the reviews, you will find some great results. However, you can only buy it from authorized centers online.

In today’s ‘instant’ world, I wouldn’t blame anyone for wishing to get hold of a pill, which, when consumed with just water, would instantly reduce weight. While this is something ideal, one needs to realize that diet pills are not magic. There’s a time factor, and most diet pills come with their prescribed/suggested package of dieting and exercise to achieve the desired results.

Plus, the diet program will vary from person to person. Assuming you’re willing to go with the dieting and exercise routine, which is the best diet pill for you? That again, will depend on a number of factors, such as your current BMI (body mass index), the nature of work and whether your suffer from any health complications, such as diabetes and heart issues.

You could consult a physician for some FDA-approved weight loss drugs, but you could also do your own research what the diet pills will do for you. Fortunately, some websites which offer the most popular pills, also justify their list, with the pill’s effectiveness, safety (including side effects) and compare prices. Some will provide you with authentic consumer reviews, so you get an idea of what to expect.

I recently read an article about the effectiveness of exercising when it comes to losing weight. True, the most popular conception held is workouts do help us lose weight. But I guess there has been a rethink on that — workouts do burn fat, but if you replace the calories, all is lost.

Edward Melanson, PhD, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Colorado, presented his research paper at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Seattle, in which he says, “Moderate duration exercise of an hour or less has little impact on 24-hour fat oxidation.”

This leads me to thinking that there ought to be a balance somewhere between how much we exercise and how much we eat. What if we wanted to do both — with the exercise keeping us fit, and the foods replenishing the nutrients. Now, what happens to the fat that we so desperately want to get rid?

My answer would be fat burners — the medication. There are several well-known brands clinically proven to actually decrease the fat, and these consumed with a balanced proportion of exercise and food (calories) intake, should keep you looking good and in tip-top shape.

A lot of people are increasingly taking the life within the boundaries of their home or office as the only way of life. To some, life outside means just watching it on television. And technology is constantly making it easier to do almost everything within the confines of walls — whether it be working, shopping, communicating and even socializing.

I think this is not natural; not the way it was intended to be. There’s a great life outdoors, and technology has given us the tools to enjoy that as well. If you have the willingness, you can easily add some spice — not to mention some fresh air as well — to your life by spending some time outside your ‘living’ room.

What some folks I know did, was to get started in their own backyard. You do find great outdoor stuff (which, by th way, you can buy online ‘indoors’) such as outdoor furninishings such as area rugs and outdoor pillows, and you can just throw them around and create a cozy corner. The outdoor cushions and throw pillows are quite well designed and can handle the wear and tear. They’re even stuffed with foam designed for outdoors and will not be affected by mold or start fading in sunlight. You may also want to look at some great pieces of outdoor lighting, to brighten up a moonlit party.

I always tell people that there’s nothing like the entertainment business to teach you how to not take things personally!

Really though, there’s opportunity in EVERY business to get this same lesson. It’s about learning to live as a creator, and not as a reactor.

In my work, both as a coach and as a coachee, one of the common challenges is about not taking things personally. That’s because moving forward, getting bigger, and living your dreams require that you step out of the petty concerns of your small self. You simply can no longer afford to waste that kind of energy and attention.

So, here are the 9 Immutable Laws of Not Taking Things Personally. Let them guide you to bigger places in your world!

1 - SWSWSWSW

A well-loved acronym, this stands for “Some will. Some won’t. So what? Someone’s waiting!”

It means that some people will love what you do.

Then there will be those who look at your work, read your poems, review your resume, visit your store - and they’ll shrug and say, “Yea, not so much.”

So what?

Somewhere out there someone is waiting for your gift. And if you have to keep working on your craft, or wait a little while, that’s okay!

2 - Know your “Why.”

This is what Sheri McConnell (my coach) says to me if I ever get afraid of stepping out in a bigger way.

Your WHY is your deeper motivation. Your WHY is your guideline. Your WHY will help you dismiss the minor petty things that try to hold you back. If you don’t know your WHY, it might be time to get clear.

3 - Remember that people are busy.

People are busy.

Don’t sink into resentment when a single email isn’t answered. It’s not personal. Many times, it’s just that people don’t have time to answer every email. We all have a lot on our plates. It’s not personal if you have to try someone twice or three times! (Revisit #1.)

4 - Email is instant. Use accordingly.

The rapid pace of our culture has removed much of the etiquette that some might normally expect. Most people just “fire off” email without thinking.

If you get an email that hurts or feels personal, take some time to chill out. Then re-read the email in a kind voice. Be careful with the temptation to over-dramatize someone else being in a hurry.

5 - Begin each day with presence.

How you begin your day sets the tone for the day.

Learn to start your day by getting centered with creative and proactive activities. Some possibilities: meditation, yoga, going to the gym, writing down goals and intentions, visioning your day in advance. Start with a strong foundation each day.

6 - Eat enough. Sleep enough.

Being tired or hungry will make you more sensitive or irritable. Don’t try to function well in these draining conditions.

7 - The power of lists.

Are you hoping for the ONE BIG THING that will be your “saving grace?” This is a veritable petri dish for taking things personally!

Examples: Applying for a scholarship to one single program. Submitting your article off to one magazine. Waiting to hear back from one single new client.

There’s a better way. Before you send yourself out into the world - be it resume, grant, publication - make a list of many options. Then, move down the list if someone says no. Find the someone who’s waiting.

8 - Shut up and listen

When you quietly listen, you may actually see humor in how you can take everything so personally.

When you’re in a conversation with someone else, stop and listen. Really deeply listen. Try practicing this first in everyday conversations that aren’t emotional. This will prepare you for more highly charged situations.

9 - Communicate without Emotion

Do you use phrases like this?

- “Well, you’re the one who…”

- “You took that all wrong!”

- “You ALWAYS do that!”

- “I’ll NEVER make it!”

Notice that this language is laced with drama and blame.

Language is a very powerful tool. Learn to use words that aren’t about the emotions and pointing fingers.

“I didn’t communicate this well so let me try again.”

“I’m not sure I understand you. Can we discuss this on the phone?”

Learn to take a “Here’s the facts ma’am” approach. Write out your desired outcome for the conversation. Get clear inside yourself, and then talk with the other person.
