You, Your Motorcycle — and the Winter
Posted by admin in Accidents, tags: Attorneys, Motorcycle, San JoseThe winter days are close to looking down our face, and so are slippery roads and freezing hands. This is all the more important to remember if you’re a motorcycle rider, and you love to zoom past others down the road.
It’s a great feeling to be ‘the king of the road’, but winter days call for extra attention towards safety especially when you’re riding your flashy new Ducati. However, you could follow some simple rules for winter riding and be safe.
For instance, it pays to remember that the the first rains make the road extra slippery, because the water picks up the oil left on the road during the summer months. Also, those ‘puddles’ of water that you think you can ride through? You never know — they could be treacherous pot holes.
I recall reading somewhere that the white coats of paint (the lanes, arrows and signs, etc.) get extra slippery. So try and stay away from them. And watch out for pedestrians, especially kids, who could be cold and probably hungry, and in a rush to cross the street. They may not be able the judge your speed and distance, so you’d better be on the lookout!
You know that your wrists and fingers do play an important role in keeping your bike under control, so be sure to keep them warm and flexible.
Finally, should you get injured in the unfortunate event of an accident, having a list of emergency numbers of friends and family to call will come in handy.
Plus, you may need legal need assistance from experts such as a San Jose motorcycle accident attorney. Be sure to contact your attorney as soon as possible with as much detail of the accident.
In the meantime, safe riding, and happy holidays!
