Where getting ’something for nothing‘ appears to be on the top of almost everyone’s wish list, the following news item comes as a breath of fresh air.

Car Wash Raises Money For Michiana Family In Crisis

Kids raising money for a little boy with cancer they never metThey may be young, but this group of kids is proving it only takes a little to make a big difference.

Robin Solomon says, “I’ve always taught my kids that it’s important to do what you can and give what you can for people. That’s what we’re here for. It’s up to us to help out as much as we can and get the job done.”

It’s a lesson that Robin Solomon’s kids and their friends are now putting into action.

They are holding car washes all over Michiana, to raise money for a little boy with cancer they have never met.

Stephanie Gordon says, “It feels really good to know that you’re helping somebody that is sick and really needs help.”

Garett Deakin says, “I think it’s really important that he gets to a hospital quick so nothing worse will happen.”

And while these kids are working to help someone else, so is the community.

Britney Lyon says, “Everybody’s coming out. They honk, they give their donations. Today (Sunday) we collected more donations than actual car washes.”

Samantha Solomon says, “I just think it’s really nice that people won’t even get a car wash, they’ll just donate 5 or 10 dollars.”

Surprising support that clearly excites this group of kids. It’s a sight that brings tears to Robin’s eyes.

Robin Solomon says, “I’m really proud. Very proud of them.”

This group of kids will be out washing cars again next weekend. They will be at the CVS on State Road 23 in Mishawaka all day Saturday and Sunday.
