I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — a bathroom is a room, too. Matter of fact, it could even be more personal than any other room in the house. So why the tendency to under-prioritize bathroom lighting and decor?

Well. Now, I’m not talking for everyone here, but I believe that many of us do tend to spend at least 20 percent less time designing bathroom styling compared to any other room in the house. I just feel it’s unfair, since a bathroom is not just a personal thing, it’s also something your favored guests could be using.

With a little thought thrown towards creative lighting, you can make an ordinary bathroom look double its size, in depth and color. And what about the soft shadows and warm glows we all like to see when we step out of the shower? Given the terrific range of material for fittings these days — porcelain, glass, stainless steel, marble — it’s really fingertips stuff to customize your bathroom to live up the rest your home.
