Modern technology has many obvious advantages — some tangible, some not very so. For instance, a flashy car equipped with computers and leather seats and can reach 100 mph in 12 seconds is also built safer to drive. The latest in electronics is capable of multi-funtional cell phones and reality quality plasma TVs, but they’re also wafer-thin. Well, almost.

The way I see it, advantage number one in a ‘thin’ digital LCD TV is the saving in your living room space. Apart from the handful who can afford to stay in villas, the rest of us living in one- or two-bedroom apartments can use every square inch of space. Just use the right tv wall mount and free up space on your entertainment center.

TV wall mounting is also a great concept since it can protect your expensive TV from accidental damage in case of a tip-over. However, be sure to pick matching shapes, sizes and weights. Typically, a plasma TV wall bracket should be capable of holding twice or three times the weight of the TV — and a 50-inch plasma TV can weigh around 100 lbs. An alternative with added flexibility is the articulating wall TV mount, which, with its extendable adjustable arms, lets you tilt or turn the TV to your most comfortable viewing angle from anywhere in the room.

Happy urban TV viewing!
