Most of us understand what’s a mobile home or a trailer home. Matter of fact, I lived in one in East San Jose, not too long ago. Well, that’s what it is exactly — it’s ‘mobile’. You just ‘remove’ it, and trail it to wherever you want. Now, we know there’s also something called a manufactured home. What’s the difference? And advantages, if any?

For one thing, manufactured homes have more style options. They have to conform to a federal code as well, but allowing for them, you can design your own floor plans, choose the window styling, bathroom fixtures, carpets, almost anything. They are usually built in about one-third of the time needed to build a regular a site-built home, so they allow you to start living in your new home within a few weeks after choosing it.

Manufactured homes are also built on schedule, and since they are factory-produced, they are also more energy efficient. While sizes may range from 900 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft, they can be detached or used as a multi-unit homes. Options include skylight, Jacuzzi, bay windows and garages.
