Let me make a universal statement: Gifts were never meant to be commercial. A gift is just what it is — a very one-to-one affair. What’s heartfelt is that I see, even with the global slowdown of economy, gifts haven’t lost their meaning. For instance, an uncle of mine recently sent some personalized books to some kids in Kenya last month, and the response he got was something to put billboards up for.

I’m yet to meet a kid — or even a grown-up — who doesn’t love personalized gifts. It just spells it out to them that they’re indeed special. You do put their names on your greeting cards, so why not on special gifts meant just for them? They go a much longer way than you’d imagine.

By the way, I believe that some gifts are destined to stay forever.
