Choosing an MP3 player isn’t a problem, but it’s advisable that you consider what you want from it. For instance, how many songs do you want to carry around with you? Go in for the largest capacity that you can find — or afford. And don’t let the brand names intimidate you — you might find exactly what you need in a lower-priced MP3 player than a flashy, expensive Apple iPod.

Shop around, ask and find out if the player supports any other format (WMA, AVI, etc.) that you may have an inclination for. Also consider the carrying options — for instance, joggers will prefer a lightweight model.
