There’s something about a cigar that doesn’t give out the idea that one is smoking… in fact, cigars are seen in the same light as tuxedos and chauffeured limousines! There’s an aura of elegance around cigar smoking that defines a way of life, much more than just smoking.

The main criteria that determining the quality of a cigar is the variety of tobacco, where it’s grown and the processing of the leaves. The outermost tobacco skin, called the wrapper, comes from the widest part of the tobacco leaf and greatly defines the flavor and color. The general trend is darker the hue of the cigar, the richer it is, but it is not necessarily so.

Cigars also contain some filler tobacco, which greatly determines the thickness of the cigar. The top-of-the line cigars will also have what’s known as binders. These are an intermediate layer of tobacco leaves that provide a cohesive strength to the filler while also adding to the overall flavor and the cigar experience.
