An unmanageable debt can enter into one’s life so softly and silently that it’s horrifying to realize its sudden presence. While a natural reaction would be to panic, it doesn’t help to deny the presence of the big, white elephant in the living room.

Thankfully, help is available in many forms when it comes to resolving debt. First off, one could start by listing the debt amounts and drawing them up against a feasible repayment plan, prioritizing the most important debts. Next, remember that creditors have a need to be advised about the borrower’s financial health – especially when payments are delayed or missing. Talk to the creditors about possible alternatives regarding restructuring your loans.

If all fails, filing for bankruptcy could be the only option. Then again, bankruptcy is not the end of the world, and you can find competent lawyers and/or agencies who can guide you in form of bankruptcy suits your case. They can also offer advice on the best course of action, so that your future credit issues are affected to the minimum.

Around 2.2 million patients globally are using a home monitoring service based on equipment connected to the Internet, said a report from Berg Insight.

The figure does not include patients that use monitoring devices connected to a PC or mobile phone.

It only includes systems that rely on monitors with integrated connectivity or systems that use monitoring hubs with integrated cellular or fixed-line modems.

Berg Insight forecasts that the number of home monitoring systems with integrated communication capabilities will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18 per cent between 2010 and 2016 reaching 4.9 million connections globally by the end of the forecast period.

Some of the most common conditions being monitored today are chronic diseases including cardiac arrhythmia, sleep apnea, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

These conditions cause substantial costs and reduce both life expectancy and quality of life. Berg Insight estimates that more than 200 million people in the EU and the US suffer from one or several chronic diseases where home monitoring can become a treatment option.

“Home monitoring solutions that can communicate over a cellular network, landline connection or the Internet have already reached significant volumes within cardiac rhythm management, integrated telehealth solutions, sleep therapy and cardiac event monitoring,” said Lars Kurkinen, telecom analyst, Berg Insight.

It doesn’t matter what the model of your car is – it’s still a machine and something is bound to go wrong with it, sooner or later. They could involve minor or major repairs, and while it helps to have some knowledge about the costs involved, it’s still a good idea to visit a repair shop which uses auto estimating software to write up an estimate.

Computerized auto repair estimation gives a much more accurate and unbiased idea of how long the repairs may take as well as the costs involved. The nearly accurate will be useful since the software calculates the billing by the number of hours, which is what insurance companies look for.

Appears as if investors are finally seeing the flat end of how high gold prices can reach and are starting to fall back to the good old cash – if the 3.5 percent fall today to $1,588 is any indication.

Investors are of the opinion that gold could continue its slide through to the end of the year and they could be seen liquidating positions in a dash for dollars.

“We are sitting on quite a lot of cash, I think a lot of people are,” said Rupert Caldecott, chief investment officer at Dalton Strategic Partnership, which has a total of around $2.4 billion under management.

“With so many assets declining daily in value, cash has its merits. The bond markets are offering no help. The problem with safe havens is that they have proven not to be safe at all and the list is getting shorter. It may only be cash very shortly.”

Is the yellow metal on course for its first quarterly fall since end-September 2008, when the global credit crunch was at its worst?

Substance abuse creeps in like a thief – in most cases, the victim realizes the damage after it’s done. However, it’s not a one-way street. Help is available — an opiate rehab features trained medical personnel who will lead the path to safe recovery.

A transition from opiate dependence to normalcy can be seamless when one goes through the treatment cycle at the rehabilitation center. Contrary to some of the myths, the detox process is painless and has little or no discomfort. Most patients will be allowed to eat normally after the detox, but there could be some side effects such as nausea and sleeplessness.

However, a doctor can help you choose an opiate rehab, since only he or she would know the status of your problem and be able to check if a certain rehab has the qualified medical professionals.

Given the fact that the biggest gift-giving season of the year is just around the corner, some of the top concerns of managers and storekeepers will be around cash management. Needless to say, the cash drawer plays an important role in not only cash transactions but also in the safekeeping of vital documents.

Modern cash drawers feature electronic/remote locking and have double or triple layers of security, including master keys for the manager. Equally importantly, their functions include more than that of just being a POS facility – they can be programmed for inventory taking as well as for printing of shift reports.

Cash drawers are available in different sizes and colors, as well as a variety of steel reinforcements. Plus, they are even tested to perform the open-close function up to four million or more cycles, so you can be assured of the long life your cash register.

With the spate of holidays coming up, most people are drawing up plans to make the most of them. Recreational vehicle (RV) driving certainly ranks in the top of the list since the options are rich and varied.

Camping grounds, national parks, RV resorts and clubs and driving into the wilderness are among the most popular choices. But holidaymakers should not get carried away by the thrill of it all and forget the crucial safety measures of long distance driving with family.

The areas of preparing the RV for the trip include batteries, water systems, electrical and propane systems as well as heaters, among others. Breakdowns can be very expensive, and a great idea is to sign with a well networked RV repair firm with a service plan that offers RV insurance.

Green tea, when consumed on a regular basis, may take some of the ‘bad’ cholesterol off, says a recent study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

The research, which involved more than 1,000 people, showed that green tea trimmed up to 6 points more from people’s total cholesterol and ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels than dummy capsules or other treatments.

The trials tested either green tea itself or capsules containing green-tea compounds called catechins, which are thought to decrease cholesterol absorption in the gut.

Green tea in a cup was more consistently effective than capsules, though the benefits overall were fairly small, explained senior researcher Olivia Phung, an assistant professor of pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

“If someone is already taking medication for their cholesterol, they should stick with it and not try to trade it for green tea, either capsules or the beverage,” she said.

Adding green tea to your diet could be one way to further improve cholesterol numbers, she added.
